sorry i'm stupid have a 2000 explorer xlt want to know how fast you can go in 4wd think we have a problem runs fine 25-40 mph over that car starts to surge and is sluggish getting up to speed once we get to hwy speed bad vibs. and surging check engine light is also got a test had misfire cyl #1 and #3 changed plugs (gapped to 54 specs call for 52-56) wires look fine is it the coil just want to kwon why its so hard to go 50 w/out feeling f-ed up thanks robe

Hi Robert,

You should be able to go as fast in 4WD as when in 2WD although it is not recommended. Sounds to me like the engine is starving for fuel. When was the last time you checked/changed the fuel filter? Also, check the distributor cap/rotor if equipped. The coilpack and module may have lost ground also. Sometimes rust forms under or around the contact points of the ignition control module and the system will operate fine when the vehicle is idling or cruising at low-speed but as soon as there is a load, the module causes a mis-fire.
