Car Alarms: Trans Am Alarm., pontiac trans am, gm vats

Question
QUESTION: Hi. I have a 99 pontiac trans am with a factory alarm and keyless entry. It has recently started to flip up the headlights when I lock or unlock the car by remote. Also there have been a few instances when it will not start and the security light is on without the alarm armed. I am wondering if my brother-in-law can just unplug the alarm to stop all of this nonsense or is it tied in with other things that wouldn't work? Also do you know where the alarm is located on these cars? Thanks.

ANSWER: Sent to your email the answer.

QUESTION: Hi. I received an email saying that my question had been answered and to click the link to read it. I did this but all the answer says is that it was sent to my email and I haven't received anything else. If you could try answering my queation again I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to drive my car until I can fix this problem. Here ia a copy of the original question: "I have a 99 pontiac trans am with a factory alarm and keyless entry. ANSWER: Sorry.
No you can not simply just unplug something.
You would loose many of the vehicle's functions if you do that
including starting the car. It also has GM VATS
(vehicle anti theft system) and may need to be reset or
bypassed.

You should take it in for an evaluation by
a stereo alarm technician to pin point
the type of system (could be up to 4 types in this car)
and then affect a repair or replacement for you at that
point.

I would need to inspect it myself to determine the cause,
and then try to come up with a solution. Tough car.

Please take it to someone near you that has
under dash experience on this car.

QUESTION: Is there an alarm reset button on these cars like some other gm models? The alarm shops around me are outrageous on prices. Can I just by one of the bypass modules and go about it that way? My brother-in-law does stereos and electronic stuff so I figure he could put in a bypass module if it is needed. Thank You very much for your time and service.

Answer
Well, yes...you can take out the VATS system for good.
The PLJX bypass kit will do the job for the fuel injection rail
problem and make that one less issue to deal with.

Have a read through www.GMPASSLOCK.com
