Car Alarms: 91Acura Legend - anti theft, volts, good luck

there is a security in and security out wire on the factory unit.  We installed an aftermarket unit.  During the time of being without a battery, the vehicle does nothing now when the key is turned.  The only power inside seems to be the dome and door lights, no instruments or radio.  Do we just ground the security in wire, it has 10 volts on it?

LOCATE THE ALARM DISARM WIRE GREEN/RED (-) at the
DOOR LOCK WIRES IN THE DRIVERS KICK PANEL &
THEN EITHER USE THE AFTER MARKET'S FACTORY
ALARM (-) DISARM OUTPUT DIRECTLY TO IT, OR
SEE THE DIAGRAM ATTACHED.
