Car Stereos: CD Changer Error, 2005 pontiac g6, pontiac g6

Question
The battery on my 2005 Pontiac G6 had to be replaced. After the battery was replaced, the CD player no longer works. It reads "CD Changer Error". The car is no longer under warranty. The dealership said that it would cost $500.00 to fix, and that they had to pull the system and send it off. The radio works fine.Is there a way fix without that expense. It seems as though they should be able to re set a computer , or change a fuse, or something easy. Let me know if you can help. Thanks

Answer
Hi Patrick,

CD changers are really finicky.  Try disconnecting it, leaving it for a minute or two, and reconnecting; sometimes, all they need is a reset.  If that doesn't do it, you're likely looking at replacement.

That said, $500 is out of this world insane.  You can likely find a replacement on eBay or at a wrecker, and put it in yourself with relative ease.
