Car Stereos: Custom stereo and factory speakers, factory speakers, sound signals

Question
I have a dual xdvd8285 stereo in a 2004 cadillac deville which has a factory amp. after having the dual stereo installed, the car speakers become muffled, or some but not all shut off for 2-5 seconds. is this a wiring problem? the proffesional installer's explanation was the stereo puts out too much power and causes the factory amp to shut down in order to not blow speakers? i do not have the bose factory system.

Answer
Hi markus.

outputs on the radio has nothing to do with the factory amplifier's power output factory amplifier will only shut off completely if there is a short somewhere see outputs on the radio have to be connected because you need to send the sound signals to the amplifiers. it might be due to a bad conection on the remote wires or maybe a problem on the radio itself ive heard those head units are made cheap. try changing the head unit and have them give you credit for the installation since thats not a accurate explanation.

Cheers.
