Car Stereos: INSTALLATION, rca cables, chevy tahoe

Question
QUESTION: I CANT FIND WHERE TO PLUG IN THE RCA JACKS IN THE BACK OF A STEREO ITS A FACTORY STEREO IN A CHEVY TAHOE 04 DOES IT HAVE THE RCA JACK PLUG?

ANSWER: hey Martin - 99.99% of factory car stereos don't have RCA type plugs.  You need to get what's called a high to low converter.    They also call them "pac adapters" (PAC was a large brand of manufacture for these).  They're small, about the size of a square golf ball with wires coming out.  It takes the signal from a speaker wire and turns in into an RCA channel.  I'm assuming you want to hook up an amp or some other component that uses RCA?  Tell me what you're installing and I'll give you some more info.

QUESTION: I WAS GONNA BUY THE HIGH TO LOW CONVERTER BUT I DECIDED TO INSTALL A NEW STEREO COULD YOU GIVE ME LIKE A WIRING DIAGRAM ITS FOR A CHEVY TAHOE 2004

Answer
Hey Martin -  I don't have wiring diagrams but then again, for an after market install you don't really need one.  You simply need to buy a harness that is made for your car.  It plugs onto your factory harness.  From there, you match up the wires from that harness to the wires on the car stereo harness.  The  colors on your new radio will be described in the owner's manual.

For an amp, you need to run power from the battery (red wire, 10 gauge minimum).  You need to run a remote turn on (blue wire) to the blue wire (sometimes blue and white) on the back of your stereo harness.  Run a black 10 gauge (or larger) ground from the amp to a screw drilled into your car's body or frame somewhere.  Run RCA cables to the amp from the back of your radio and you should be set.

Thanks
