Question10 yr old (Yamaha AV reciever RX-V795a). Initially Standby/ON switch would take a couple attempts to power up system. (switch worn out?) System would momentarily power up/illuminate but not stay on. Further attempts would not respond. Found power cable chewed up and broke. (Former pet rabbit). Spliced/repaired but still no change. Nothing! Any Yamaha authorized repair help in No. Kentucky/Cincinnati,OH area? Greatly appreciate your time and consideration.
AnswerI checked the Yamaha Service Center Locator and they do not show any centers near to Cincinnati or Covington, KY. Sorry.

As to your symptoms: It seems the unit is going into protection mode. It is most often caused by one of the following:
- Short on speaker wires or one of the speaker units (voice coil burnout) - - Try disconnecting all the speakers from the back side of the rcvr. If it powers up then you have an external problem.
- Output transistor overloaded causing excessive loading on DC line of power supply
- Output transistor in power section shorted out from overload
- Power supply and protection circuit; such as bad rectifier, shorted electrolytic ripple filter capacitor, bad board, etc.
- Bad fan motor.
Try, before you go any further, doing a hard reset: Unplug the power cord of the unit for a full one hour. When powering it up again, press the power switch and hold it on when inserting the plug into power.
