Cadillac Repair: 1990 SEVILLE, door key, seville

Question
I HAVE A 1990 SEVILLE. THE STARTER WENT OUT SO I REPLACED IT. AFTER I HOOKED THE BATTERY UP AGAIN, I GOT THE MESSAGE "STARTING DISABLED DUE TO ANTI THEFT SYSTEM". IT STARTED AND RAN FINE BEFORE THE STARTER WENT OUT. THE CAR CAR CAME WITH TWO KEYS AND TRIED BOTH OF THEM THINKING IT MIGHT BE THE PASS SYSTEM. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THX

Answer
Hi Pete,

These systems cause more problems for the owners and not thieves.

With this said, I will give you at least an idea of what you can do to fix your problem.

If everything is working properly, all you need to do is lock the door with the door button. Close the door and unlock it with the door key. That should set you up.

In the event that that does not work which it should, turn the ignition key on for 10 minutes. Turn off. Turn on for ten minutes. Turn off and turn on one more time.

These are the two reset procedures for GM.

Try the door lock first.

Good luck!
