Cadillac Repair: 1990 sedan deville A/C blows fuse, magnetic clutch, defrosters

My 1990 Sedan Deville blows the fuse only when A/C or Defrster is on. When Economy setting is on no fuse blows. Sometimes it blows within moments sometimes it after an hour. Car has electric information center so when fuse blows I lose Speedometer and electronic controls for fan and fuel. What is causing fuse to blow?

Most likely the cause is a short in the magnetic clutch mounted on the front of the A/C compressor. Climb under the car and unplug the 2 wire connector at the front of the compressor and install a new fuse and turn ON all your AC controls even the defrosters and see if the fuse blows. Naturally you will NOT have any cold air because the compressor is unplugged.

If the fuse does not blow, Replace the  magnetic clutch mounted on the front of the A/C compressor.
