Cadillac Repair: power locks problem, 1994 cadillac fleetwood, cadillac fleetwood

Question
I have a 1994 cadillac fleetwood with a 5.7 liter engine i think.  The problem is when i look my doors they will unlock by themselves and continue to unlock like someone is pressing the unlock button but its not rapid.  Even when i put the car in drive the doors lock but then they will unlock.  When the car is off the doors will unlock at any time. I took the fuse out of the power locks.  You can hear the clicking sound but the doors dont unlock except for the drivers side front door i don't know what to do.

Answer
Hi Tony, This one seems like it might have to be diagnosed by your mechanic. However there are a couple things you could try first.

If you have remotes that lock/unlock the doors remove the keys and leave the key fob inside the house. Then unlock the door and see if the door locks still cycle. Start the engine and put the car in drive and see if they cycle.

If they still act up then I would start by disconnecting the power door lock switch from the drivers side and then the passenger side. There is a possability that the switch could be sticking and be the cause of your problem.

Depending on the options for your car like if you have a factory alarm or add-on alarm that could cause the locks to cycle. You would need to unplug the module and see if it stops. If it does then replaceing the module or leaveing it unplugged would be your choice. Otherwise replaceing it might be the fix unless something is telling the module to cycle the locks.

Sorry I can't be anymore help than that but haveing a hands-on and doing a diagnostic is really important for this problem. Bill
