QUESTION: ac working blower works ac. only blows cold if I clamp heater hose no heat

Answer
Jeff,
Of course if you clamp the heater hose (are you speaking of the hot water supply or return hose? I presume you mean one or the other) you will lose the heat. But what switches did you replace? And why clamp the hose when you don't have heat? What were you trying to prove? Most systems allow the hot water and the compressed refrigerant to come into the heater/ac unit, and then they send air over both coils but in varying flow rates so as to produce a mix of air that comes out the temperature that you want it to be. It is called the blend-air door, the device that changes the flow between the two pathways and it is either mechanically controlled by a cable attached to a lever or it is driven electrically by a small actuator motor. It depends upon: what is the year/make/model/ body type?
