Chrysler Repair: 1996 Dodge Stratus:No Start, crankshaft position sensor, dodge stratus

Question
My daughter has this car and it will not start.  No to the coil.  After reading some of the questions on here we did the on-off-on-off-on test and got the codes: 12, 35, 35, 33, 31, 31, 11 and 55.  Daughter does not have much money and playing punch and guess is not a good thing.  Can you help us out?  Thanking you in advance...

Answer
Hi Peg,
The key code to the problem is '11' in most liklihood. That says the crankshaft position sensor signal is missing, most likely due to a failure of the crankshaft position sensor. That would kill the spark signal to the spark plugs.  It is fairly straightforward to replace being located on the rear of the engine where it is inserted into the transmission bell housing, below the distributor. It costs under $100.
The other codes are about the system that collects gasoling vapor not being gas tight, the a/c clutch relay, and the high speed fan relay, all things that are relevant but cause for the engine not starting.
I don't know what you meant by "No to the coil".
So if you, she, or a friend has a little experience with mechanical replacements it can be a do-it-yourself project. Let me know if you want the detail. I assume you have the 2.5L V-6, otherwise let me know.
