Chrysler Repair: Radiator fans, chrysler concord, radiator fans

Question
I replaced the radiator fans on my daughters 2000 Chrysler Concord. I replaced them because she had an accident recently and one of the blades was broken at the hub and about to fly off. She told me the other day that the new ones makes a lot more noise than the old ones when they were running correctly (before the accident). She said they sounded like they were running to hard. I looked in a Chrysler book and see that there are two speeds for these fans.
My question is: How can you tell when they are running the slower speed and the higher speed?
The temp gauge hand is at the middle position, normal?
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Landon,
My manuals cover thru '97 so I may not have the story on your 2000. But up thru that time the two fans are actually single speed only. Thus one fan (the low speed) comes on at 210F, and then when the temp hits 220F the other fan (high speed) comes on also (I believe the low speed fan continues to run in tandem with the high). So check that out by just letting the car warm up in the driveway and maybe partially block the radiator to get the temp high enough to go thru both temperature points and observe whether what I described is correct. If you just installed a new pair of fans you may have them switched so that the high speed is coming on first rather than the low.
It is also possible that there is something in the control circuit, but that is one possibilitly to check out.
