CAN YOU ADJUST THE VALVES ON A 400 PONTIAC MOTOR?

i take it that it is a hyd. cam not a solid cam, so you should be able toa lil, but you must be carefull as if you get them to tight you will burn the up.
first remove one valve cover at a time if you do not have splash clips now with the motor warm  start at the first valve than go back, now with a wrachet loosen the valve till it taps a lil now tighten it upjust till it stops than go 1/4 of a turn more no more than that for now when you do all valves take it out for a spin and see if you feel more pep if not you could try it again at 1/2 a turn but by all means do not go any more than 1/2 a turn ok  good luck.
how many miles you got on that engine ? and what carb ?
