Ford Repair: 1993 tempo motorized seatbelts, tempo driver, practical solution

Question
How to repair belt's upper-attachment that binds on track's upper rear radius (upon opening driver door--it works perfect upon closing the door)?  Local dealer-parts people say replace the whole unit that costs $700.  The passenger side belt will probably fail soon.

Can a 1994 tempo/sable nonmotorized driver-side belt be adapted to my '93 tempo driver side?

Can you suggest a more practical solution for "failed motorized belts?"

Answer
I know of no other way to repair this track except to replace it. You might ask the dealer to compare part numbers between the '93 and '94, if they are the same number, then you will know. What about a used track? Although this is a safety item, and I have always strongly recommended fixing safety items properly.

As far as I know parts are not available separately, it is an assembly.
