Isuzu Repair: fuel pump, gas mileage, fuel pump

Question
My truck won't start this morning. I worked down to the fuel pump...it doesn't seem to be getting power but I applied 12v from the battery and still can't get any noise from the pump....even that noise that you get when you turn the key untill it builds pressure. Do you think I can add an inline pimp and leave the existing pump in the tank and not have to take it out of there? What kind of pressure pump do I need?

Thanks!!

Answer
I personall would not. It isn't that hard to change the in-tank pump. I did mine last summer and it took about 2 hours total. all you do is drop your tank down, pull the pump out, and reverse the steps. Don't forget to disconnect your battery.
I like to leave things that deal with fuel the way the factory has them so as not to have any other problems come up. And pumps are pretty cheap, about 75-100 bucks. JC whitney has them even cheaper if I am not mistaken. I changed mine out and have had no problems since and seem to get better gas mileage with the new pump since it has a new sock on it.
I hope this helps,
Derek
