Land Rover Repair: motor management computer Disco II, computer disco, better in the usa

Question
Mr Robinson,
I own a Disco II (Gant, juli 2004, automatic, Diesel TD5). I've had many problems with the car, but I don't want to sell it. He has no power on the gas, but the motor is running very smoothly. Cables on the injectors were renewed, as well as the entire cable system that starts at the computer and runs through the motor. The old cable was quite oily. But, still no 'go'. If the oil has gotten into the computer, the computer has to be replaced. Do you sell these computers? How much are they? You have any tips for me regarding the malfunction of the car?
Kind regards, Kasper

Answer
You should be able to take the case off the computer and see if oil got inside.  If it did, the unit is probably ruined.  We do not sell them at my company because the TD5 is not sold in North America.  I suspect you can obtain TD5 engine computers from many sources in the UK, though.  Remember you will need the IDS or T4 dealer test system, or an Autologic system, to program the new control unit before the vehicle will run on a new computer.

Since you are in the Netherlands, I should ask . . . do you ever see my book in stores there?  The title in your country translates to "I Always Liked Trains Better."  In the USA and elsewhere in the world it's "Look Me in the Eye"
