Land Rover Repair: 2006 RR HSE lowered suspension, stop signs, range rover

Question
Today while driving I noticed the vehicle lower and raise on it's own at stop signs. When I got home the vehicle lowered and will not raise back up. The dash read, "suspension must be cooled before raising". Then it reads," Vehicle lifting slowly" but it isn't lifting at all. What could the problem most likely be? Is it expensive to fix? Thanks!

Answer
If the compressor is overheated that means there is a leak. The leak may have worn out the compressor, so you may actually have multiple problems now.  In any case, you need to find a shop with Range Rover diagnostic gear, and see what that says.  My guess is, one or more air springs are going to need replacement and if that's the case the bill will probably be well over $1,000.  But you have to do the tests to know for sure . . .
