Land Rover Repair: 99 Discovery II suddenly wont start, land rover discovery, land rover discovery ii

Question
My son has a 99 Land rover discovery II and he was at a service station to gas up.  He says he accidentally hit the lock button on the remote while he was in the car, then he tried to start it, and it would not start.  He got out and locked it via the remote unlocked it with the remote. Got back in,shut the door, tried to crank it still no luck. He hears the ding ding ding when he inserts the key, but no crank at all. My suspicion is he got the alarm in engine disable mode.  How long does it needs to sit untouched before the engine will respond to the remote when you unlock it, then start?  Or is there some other procedure to follow.  Battery seems fine.

Answer
Hi Bill,

I agee that it could be your security system has immobilized your Disco...

here's a website that describes the problem you may be having:

If I'm right, you'll need to enter the EKA code to reset the system.

Best of luck,
