Land Rover Repair: a/c compressor, electric fuses, ac service

Question
Hi - I have a 97' discovery fxixs with gulf specifications for the middle east since ia m in dubai. My a/c compressor shuts dowm on its own while the a/c is switched on despite the car being not run and not heated up at all. I got the a/c gas filled up to the max and now the compressor just dosent work at all. It is blowing warm and moist air. At least, before re-filling the a/c gas it used to work/shut-down on its own. Now its totally not working. The garage checked the electric fuses in the box and they seemed all ok, we dont know what to do? One mechanic says that i should change the compressor and try, another one says that he thinks the electricity is not transferring to the compressor. A third mechanic says that the compressor may be ok else it would not go on/off from time to time....every mechanic has his own view and if i go to the dealer it will cost me more than the current value of the car today. Pls help me, this is a very HOT country and i drench in sweat within 3 mins of getting in the car without my a/c working.

Answer
You need to find a mechanic who has the skills to test your system.  The guys you've talked to are just guessing.

You can access factory service information for a small fee at www.landrovertechinfo.com You will find wiring diagrams and AC service information there.

BUt you need a skilled mechanicto make use of it.  I don't know what to suggest there; you may have to use the dealer.
