Land Rover Repair: Buying a 95 disco, priorty, lifter

Question
I am about to pick up a 95 disco, and wondering what major areas I should look at on the rover before I hand over the money.  When test driving it what should I look/feel for.  It has 88k miles it has the standard dummy lights on: ABS SRS.  Owner stated that there is lifter noise, how big of a priorty should this be on my repair list.  I don't plan I driving this Disco a ton, I just want to have a little off road fun.  One last thing the key is apparently stuck in the ignition, and has a togo switch installed to save the battery when not in use, is this problem common?  Any idea how to fix it, if not how much is this gonna cost me?  Thanx for your time and effort.

Answer
This Disco sounds like it has quite a few problems.  It's been my experience that cars in the shape you describe take $3,000-5,000 to put right.  Sometimes more.  So beware and be warned.

For every problem you tell me about there are three you don't know about yet.
