Land Rover Repair: Land Rover Disco 1994, bench test, fuse box

3.9ltr 1994 Disco Series 1.  What is happening is when driving it will sputter out and die.  I have replaced the fuel pump not long ago.  It I restart it it will run just fine.  What is going on?

Hi Matt,

could be fuel related, just as you suspected. Fuel pump, fuel filter, bad fuel, fuel injectors.

Could also be spark related: coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor, alternator, fuse box grounding out, electrical short.

Then there are the sensors, temperature, MAF, TPS, crank ...

You've got to determine if it's a fuel or spark related problem.

Pressure testing your injectors, pressure test your cylinders, bench test your ignition system...all can help isolate the problem.

A LR testbook would be nice but normally the dealers have those.
