Land Rover Repair: Rear Suspension 1999 LR Discovery, land rover discovery, land rover specialist

Question
I have a 1999 Land Rover Discovery SE when it is parked the rear end drops down over the tires.  When you start the vehicle and put it will level off.  So, rear only drops down when the car is parked.

Answer
You've got a statement, not a question.

Are you wondering why it drops?  If so the answer is that you've got an air leak, either in the rear air bags, the lines, or the valve body.

Diagnosis of this system requires the specialist Land Rover test system and it is beyond what most small shops can do.  You could replace the rear air bags and hope for the best but that's nothing more than a guess.

Given that scenario your best advice would be to seek out a Land Rover specialist for repair or convert to coil springs in back.  Atlatic British sells a kit for a few hundred dollars to convert to coils.  Their number is 800 533 2210.  You can install the kit with regular hand tools but you'll need to find someone with the LR test system to recongigure the SLABS computer to tell it you've converted to coils.
