Question
Oil is leaking around what appears to be the valve cover intake and exhaust gaskets. Especially towards the front and rear passenger side corners. It leaks and gathers along the side and ridge of the oil pan and some settlement in the shroud that sheilds the distributor and has leaked onto my alternator and have had to replace it.  My question is, since I believe you dont give advice for do it yourself people, and I can probably see why, if the lexus repair people were to replace these gaskets, it appears that they would they have to remove the induction system to accomplish this task..Is this correct and how difficult is this? Any help would be appreciated...thanks, charlie

Answer
Hello Charlie, The most common places to leak are the valve cover gaskets and the distributor itself. The distributor will leak at times through the center shaft that holds the roror. There is not a fix for this and it will need to be replaced if it is. I would remove the distributor cap and see if there is oil inside.
