Question -
A FEW YEARS AGO FORD SENT A LETTER FOR FORD AND MERCURY TO REPLACE A SENSOR AND THEY WOULD REIMBURSE.  I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE SENSOR AND IT HAS DIED AGAIN.  WOULD YOU POSSIBLY KNOW WHAT IT WAS?  MAYBE AZT SENSOR OR SWITCH?
CAR WILL START AND DIES WHENEVER IT IS SLOWED DOWN AND AT EVERY TRAFFIC LIGHT.  IT SOMETIMES JERKS VERY HARD WHEN DRIVING.

Answer -
Ok, Pat,

Sorry your having trouble. Please be kind enought o answer if your check engine light is on and does it only die when it's hot? In other words does it work fine until the car warms up or is it pretty much doing this all the time?

Please resubmit so we can get to the bottom of this! YES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND IT PRETTY MUCH DOES THIS ALL THE TIME, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT.  IF I KNOW THE NAME OF THE PART I CAN GET IT REPAIRED A LITTLE CHEAPER.  THIS IS THE SAME THING IT DID BEFORE.  THANKS

Answer
Hi Pat,

That check engine light is the key to repairing your car. I suggest taking your car to a Cottman Transmission because they will scan the stored codes in your car's computer for free. If you don't have a Cottman near you then take it to a shop you know and trust. If you don't like what they tell you, resubmit to me and I will tell you what the codes mean and what needs to be done and how much and so forth... There are dozens of sensors that will make that light come on. We need to know which one is having trouble.
