Question
i drive a kia sportage 2.0 year 2000
i have had a problem with the vehicle after driving i cannot shut down the engine when i turn off ignition i have to open and close car door to shut down everything .
i have taken it to a garage and they have tried to repair it.
but unfortunatly they have not rectified the problem and they insist that i should bring in the vehicle to have another look and rip me off for more cash.
they reckon its something to do with the alarm, please help

Answer
Hello Paul,
Alarm system might be.
If it does it all the time, try a cheap fix. Disconnect the control wires to the alternator. Not the big batt wire, but the others. If that lets the switch shut the engine off, a bad diode in the regulator could be allowing voltage to feed back to the ignition.
