Mitsubishi Repair: car shuts off while driving, fuel pump filter, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
i have a 95 Mitsubishi eclipse.... i have had a tune up done, two sensors put in, ignition module cleaned.... i don't know what is going on i will drive about 45 minutes sometimes longer and then the car will just die no warning no sputtering nothing, everything just shuts off and i will pull over on the side of the road and try starting it... it will want to turn over but wont... everything will work still just wont completely start.... i just bought a fuel pump filter and strainer and i was just wondering if that could be the problem? i don't what to put that in if it might not be the problem  what do you think

Answer
Elicia,
Another item you should check is your car's computer (ECU).  On older Eclipses, capacitors used on the ECU would leak over time and cause random driving and starting problems.  If all your gauges indicate your car is running nominally, then your problem is most likely an electrical problem.  It's possible the fuel pump could be at fault, and it couldn't hurt to replace the filter.
Good luck!
