Motorcycle Repair: clutch, honda rebel 250, clutch lever

Question
I own a Honda rebel 250 year 2005, engine startup ok,gear shift ok, but hardly move when i release the clutch. Please tell what exactly wrong with it.

Thanks.

Answer
Bring it by the house and I can tell you EXACTLY what is wrong with it....  :>)

The most probable cause is that there is not enough slack at the clutch lever. You must have about 1/8" free play at the lever before it actually begins to pull the clutch arm. If you do have some slack/free play at the lever, check the lever on the engine to see if it is moving and has a little free movement before engagement of the release mechanism when you pull the clutch lever.

If the levers both have some free play and the clutch is still slipping, then the clutch plates are worn out and need replacement.

The last possibility is if the clutch cable is frozen up from sitting and/or the inner cable strands are broken, causing the cable to hang up.
