Question
I have a buddy who gave me a 85' kawasaki kx 80 tha bike has always been garage kept and seems to be in excellent condition externally. The problem that i'm having is every time i ride the bike it runs fine till i cut it off then it won't start again.I have to put a new spark plug every time it fouls plugs every time!I was hoping you might have some info to help me or at least give me a good place to start. THANK YOU!

Answer
Hi Brian.

I will start by telling you the same thing that the vast majority get told; Get the repair manual.  It has references and specs that you will need.

The bike is a 2-stroke, so it uses a fuel/oil mixture of approximately 50:1 (fuel:oil).  If that mix is oil rich, then it would foul the plug.  The same if it is fuel rich as well.  Make sure that the fuel:oil mixture is correct.

Also follow the troubleshooting guide in the repair manual if you still have a problem, in case there is anything that I missed.

Good luck and ride safe.
