Motorcycle Repair: 1995 CR125 blows oil out of the exhaust, clutch side, clutch basket

Question
My 1995 CR125 had been running fine, then it started smoking and spewing oil out of the exhaust.  Oil must be getting from the right side of the engine(clutch and transmission)to the left side.  What can cause this and how do I repair it?  Can it be repaired without splitting the engine case?

Answer
Dan, Sounds like you have a crank seal problem?? Both mag. side,And clutch side crank seals can be replaced without splitting the case's.The mag. side requries that you remove the mag. cover then the mag wheel with a special puller, then remove the firing coil & air gap generator,The 2- 10 mm head bolts on the plate. Then you must pop the seal out ,And replace with a new one. After reassembling Then reset air gap at .010 On the clutch side it's a little more difficult,You have to remove the covers, Then take clutch and clutch basket apart,The remove the engine crank gears pay close attn. as to how they came apart.then remove r/side crank seal,And replace with new seal. Good luck. Try me Again.Glen
