i have a 81 yamaha virgo 900 cc
do you know of any place on the web i can view a manuel without buying one?

Hi Mike.
 Unfortunately, I know of nowhere that has a downloadable manual for any bikes.  It is always best to have the manual in your posession, rather than on the web anyway.  What if you need to get an odd part and the parts guy has no clue as to what part you are talking about.  The manual will most likely show it.  I have had that happen to me a few times, so I speak from experience.
