Nissan Repair: AC, strange noise, freon

I have a problem that my AC in Xtrail 2003 model not cooling properly. It takes about 40 min to cool when outside temp is about 30 deg centigrade. When I set speed to max, there comes a strange noise from fan that forces me to set it to one lower level. What might be the problem?

Hi Erick -

I think you have a couple separate issues.

I seems you are low on freon, or have a clogged system (maybe orifice filter). Try shooting water on your condenser when the A/C is on (the condenser is right in front of your radiator). If the temp improves (gets a lot colder) then it is a clog in your system. If not, then you will have to get the system recharged. Have them check for a leak at the same time.

The noise is probably caused by the fan or motor. Located under dash behind glove box. Probably needs replacement.
