Nissan Repair: 1998 Nissan Pathfinder, nissan pathfinder, temp guage

Question
The mechanic recently changed the compressor & dryer.  The ac feels cool in the morning and night.  During the heat of the day it does not cool very good.  The mechanic said it is because the engine is overheating and the condenser is too hot.  I took it too another mechanic to check the cooling system.  He said the temperature is normal and the temp. guage is ok. New oil and new antifreeze is now in the engine.  Which mechanic do i believe?

If the temperature gauge is not over half would lead me to look at the system pressures on the airconditioner components you have replaced.  I would have the second shop you took it to give you a second opinion.  Also, if the cooling fans do not come on with the airconditioner on will lead to less cooling from the airconditioner when it is hot outside.
