Nissan Repair: 1986 p/u 4x4 stalling, haynes manual, z24

Question
I have an 86' pickup with a z24 that stalls intermittently. It does not seem to matter whether I am driving down the road or idling. It has been doing this for a few months now, but it is getting more frequent. The only common factor seems to be that the engine has heated up to normal temp when this occurs. I have taken it to my father-in-law's garage a few times, but it will not act up when I am there. I am thinking that it is a sensor of some kind that is telling the engine to shut down, but I just don't want to start replacing things that aren't bad.

Answer
Bobby,

Check the distributor for oil on the optics and check for fuel pressure when it dies.  One last thing is to check the transistorized amplifier with the coil too.  A Haynes Manual or a factory service manual will both give the specific values, in ohms.
