Nissan Repair: 1993 Hardbody KA24e hesitates after ~3000RPM, spark plug wire, ka24e

Question
Just replaced timing chain guides, cogs, etc...  After reassembling, would not
start.  Reassembled distributor and oil pump at TDC.  Runs, but at 3000rpm it
bogs down and has no power.  Top speed 80km/h.  No power at all in 5th
gear.

Timed using timing light to 12deg btdc.  Checked all electrical plugs &
vacuum connections, spark plug wire order.  Replaced distributor, cap, rotor,
wires, plugs w/ multiple sets.   If TPS is unplugged, it alters idle.

Any suggestions?  Next step according to Chilton manual is MAF, EGR, or ECU
problems.

Answer
Mike,

I would check the the static timing to make sure the chain is not off a tooth.  That is what it sounds like to me.  Run the engine over to top dead center and check the valve event timing and make sure number one is on at the crank and number one intake valve jsut starts to move.  Check it out and email me back.
