Nissan Repair: 2004 Nissan Maxima, crank angle sensor, nissan maxima se

Question
I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima SE, and just started having problems when I tried to start the car and it would turn over and would not start. After about four tries it started with no problem. Two days later, the engine light came on. I took it to Auto Zone and their machine said that the problem was some where near the camshaft sensor. Would you have any idea on how much this problem would cost or whether or not this may be the problem

Answer
Tanara,

Yes, that sounds like the crank angle sensor.  The computer gets the timing information from this sensor.  I would change the crank angle sensor.  It is located on the timing cover and is pretty easy to change.  Be sure to disconnect the battery before you change it.  When you purchase the new one you will know what you are looking for and it only takes a ten millimeter to change it.  A Haynes Manual or a factory service manual helps to show you how to change it.  But, really, it is a unbolt and replace.
