Nissan Repair: A/C Nissan Primera, eric eric, hot air

Hello,

The A/C on my car doesn't work properly. The switch lights OK,
I can hear the extra effort on the engine when switching on, the flow works OK, but the cooling
effect is very, very slow to kick in (May be 15/20 min and the temperature goes down only marginally). Are there any checks/maintenance I could go through before getting the garage involved? Many thanks. Eric

Have the system pressure checked to see that it has enough refrigerant.  Also, check to see that the airconditioning fan comes on when the compressor does.  Lastly, check to see that the blend door moves to shut off the heater so the airconditioner gets to blow air without getting hot air mixed in with it.
