Nissan Repair: Nissan Almera A/C stopped working, nissan almera, c button

Question
Hi,

We've got a 2001 Nissan Almera (1.8).
The A/C was working fine up until 2 days ago and yesterday it just stopped. Fan is working and air is blowing from the vents but when I push the A/C button nothing happens. The little led on the button turns on but I cannot hear the compressor or the relay kicking in (Before I could hear the little tick followed by the compressor's noise, now there is nothing).
Checked the fuses in the dashboard and under the hood but they are fine. What can it be?

Many thanks!

Answer
Erez,

Have the system pressure checked as this is the most common cause.  You probably need a can of R-12 added.  The second most common problem is the pressure switch failing.  This senses the pressure in the system and if the system is low it will not allow the compressor to activate.
