Nissan Repair: Nissan Maxima 1990 Alarm problems, nissan maxima, door switches

Question
Hi,

I am having problems with the alarm system.  It went off three times.  Once will it was sitting in the driveway and twice while I was driving it.  The only way to cut it off is to get out of the car, put the key in the door and turn it.  I want the system removed but the Nissan dealership said that it can't be done.  Is there anyway to fix this problem? Can I have it removed completely?  I ttok it to Nissan d they said that they "tested" it and did not find anything wrong with the pins in the hood or doors.  They also said that they cannot remove it?  Is this true?  PLEASE HELP!!

THANKS!

Answer
Denise,

There is no real way to remove the alarm so the dealer is correct.  If the alarm is going off when you are inside the car and it goes off it is probably because the system timed down for a couple of minutes and it set itself and then went off when it detected someone was in the car like opening a door and such.  You could always leave the door open slightly to keep the alarm from setting.  Also, you could figure out which wire goes to to the horn as cut it so the horn does not go off.  If it was me I would leave it alone.  But, I do think one of the door switches is defective if it is going off all by itself when no one is in the car.
