I need to change the water temp sensor on my wife's 3.4L car.The gauge fucturates wildly.Where is it located on the engine and what would be the easier way to change it.Thank-you, Jamie

Hello Jamie,
According to my manual, the temp sender is in the left head. Looks like it is above the center spark plug.
To test the gauge and wires, remove the wire from the sender and hold it to ground.(Engine off, key on).
If the gauge deflects full scale, the gauge and wires are ok.

On changing the sender, have the new one ready, screw out the old, and stick in the new. If the engine is cool, there will be no pressure, and just a little coolant should escape.
