Pontiac Repair: Pontiac Grand Prix 97 radio problems, pontiac grand prix, door latch

On my 1997 Grand Prix GT my radio is not turning off when I open the door.  It always has in the pass.  The clock will even stay on after turning off the radio manually and setting the alarm.
I am lost to what to check for or how to fix this. I see no buttons or trigger that might just be stuck.

Your problem is most likely in the RAP(retained accesory power) module. It is what keeps the radio and other accesories powered up with the key off until you open the door. It could also be a problem with the door latch switch, which sends a signal to the RAP to turn off the accesories. It is not an easy system for me to tell you how to check. And you could do some serious damage to other modules if your not careful. You should probably take it to your local Pontiac dealer to have it diagnosed properly.
