Porsche Repair: RF brake wont release 1987 924S, porsche dealership, john richmond

My right fron brake will not relase from the wheel on my 1987 924S.
I have tried stomping the brake at speed and bleeding it a bit to no avail. My mechanic is laid up right now and I need some help.

John.  Thanks for the nice feedback, I really appreciate it.  As for the question about mechanics in your area...sorry I'm on the other side of the country so I really can't make a recommendation for you.  I suppose if I were you I'd either look through the yellow pages for an "Independent" (meaning not a Porsche dealership) Porsche garage or a Mercedes/European garage.  Brakes are something EVERYONE has familiarity with....

Just so I'm clear...you were able to get the 924 "at speed" with a caliper clamped on the disc?

The question I'd really like to ask is was there a time interval (weeks/months) between the last time you drove the car and now?

1.  If a lot of time has elapsed, the piston could have rusted or corroded in place.

2.  The pads may have worn down so far that the pistons in the calipers were over-extended and one or both cocked a tiny bit in it's bore.  If so, it's stuck in that position and would create your symptoms.  

Either situation will require removing the caliper and inspecting the pistons as well as their rubber seals.  Take off the tire, undo the two mounting bolts that hold the caliper to the front spindle or strut...if you are under the car looking at the back of that assembly you'll see two 17 or 19mm bolts...those are the ones to undo.  They will be torqued on pretty good...so you'll need an air tool or a wrench with leverage (like a pipe over the wrench handle) to make the handle a lot longer.  Now...DON'T yank on that wrench while you are still under the car...go under to see what you're going to yank on...get out from under before you yank!

Once the calipers are loose from their positions you will no doubt have to tap them off the disc with the brake pads still installed.

Given all this effort...the end result will most likely be caliper rebuilding.
