RV Repair: Leaks in R.V., aluminum frame, taking the chance

Question
Gerald
I have a 89 c class with water damage above the cab in the bunk area.  It was leaking in from the side and side window.  It has been leaking for some time there was no visable water damage until you look behind the walls.  I have most of the wood out.  There is two pieces of wood sandwiched with insulation in the middle.  This is also glued to the outside wall.  How would you go about getting all the rotted wood out without destroying the outside walls?  Would it be nessaccey to glue the new wood back to the fiberglass wall?  I can get most of the rotted wood out because it just peels out, but when I get to the side that is not as rotted it is more difficult.  Any suggestions?  This wood is also behind the aluminum frame.   Thanks Ray

Answer
You can score the wood at the frame and then it should come out fairly easy. If you have some parts that wont come free easily you can leave them in place rather than taking the chance of tearing the wall. As far as putting the new wood back with glue it depends on how well you can seat everything I have done this both ways, if you can seat the repairs without it making a lot of noise while driving or walking around the MH then it should be fine.
