Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): replace Briggs & Stratton engine, crankshaft diameter, briggs stratton engine

Question
I have a MTD riding mower, and I need to replace the engine (20hp vteck)
because of a blown head.  Initial quotes around here (San Diego area) have been
$800 to $1300 -- almost the cost of a whole new machine.  Am I better off
getting a new one or just replacing the engine.  If I get a new one, is there a
market to sell the body/frame?

Answer
Hello Michael:

A Blown Head? Replace the Head if No Other Damage was Done. Most 18hp - 22hp Engine will Bolt Up and have the Same Crankshaft Diameter and Length. Send me the Model and Type Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. I can Locate a Replacement Model Number for you Also. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
