Steering Column Repair: 1972 chevy pickup horn problem, chevy pickup, horn system

Question
QUESTION: i have a 72 chevy pickup and the horn sticks, want to know is there a kit to put back fresh to solve this problem? i heard this is a common problem for them.

ANSWER: Hi Ron:

There are a number of parts that could cause this problem and yes, it is fairly common (although it's a 40 year old problem).  If you can post a picture of your steering column, I can recommend the parts most common for the style steering wheel and horn system you have.

I'll watch for your reply

QUESTION: doug i cant a picture right now its in storage 5 miles away. its the standard steering wheel with the kind of sqare plastic emblem that snaps on the center. is there any video on line to view to show how to repair. i guess you could describe it fairly easy over this chat page. theres not that many parts to this horn, thanks, ron.

Answer
Thanks Ron, that actually helps.
Most often, the parts that go bad on that design are the spring loaded horn contact and the flex plate / insulator ring.  My company has the first 2 parts, but not the insulator.  That you can rig from the old one if it's not shattered too badly.  The screws just need to insulate the ring from the steering wheel so they don't touch anything but the plastic.
I am enclosing links to the other parts here.

They are parts 'horn04' and 'horn06'

I hoe this helps you.  If you need to order them, we have them in stock.

Good luck'
