Steering Column Repair: steering column, ford steering column, f 350

Question
I have a 1997 F 350 ford and the gear shifter doesn't shift to all gears. The shifter has alot of movement from park to drive and does not go to park. I have to start it in neutral and then I can shift it to drive. To shift it to reverse I have to get under the truck and move the linkage to reverse. Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Steve:

We have recently uploaded pages and a description of how to repair and/or rebuild the shift tube of a Ford steering column.  They are broken down into step by step detailed instructions on our website. Although the example is for a different vehicle than yours, the column is identical to yours (tilt and non tilt use the same housing)

Lastly, if you need parts to repair this column simply follow the links to order on line or email us on our "Contact Us / Order Parts" page and we will get back in touch with you personally

Good luck
