Steering Column Repair: I have a locked steering column(please Help), mitsubishi eclipse, clockspring

Question
Okay, I have a 1994 Mitsubishi eclipse. I had a problem with the ignition previously It would not actually start the car It just supplied the accessories with power. Although now it completely went out and wouldn't move so I drilled the ignition out and wired a toggle switch directly to the adapter in the back. My car starts and everything works although my steering column is locked still due to the pin. (How can I remove this pin) Please answer as quickly as possible I need a vehicle to drive to school

Answer

ignition switch assemb
Hi Dustin:
You will need to remove the entire ignition lock assembly (picture attached).  Remove the covers, the airbag, the steering wheel, the clockspring and multifunction switches and then you can get to the switch assembly.  Most likely it's held on by 2 break-off bolts that need to be chiseled counterclockwise (as if you were unscrewing them) to remove the assembly.  the you can re-assemble everything and drive it.

Good luck!
