Steering Column Repair: Ignition switch 90 Chevy, chevrolet truck, jigsaw puzzle

Question
The column ignition switch in my '90 Chev p/u has been getting 'stickier' and 'stickier' until yesterday when it no longer could even rotate sufficiently to engage the starter. I'd like to replace the entire mechanism but need some advice.I'm a pretty decent gearhead but all the tiny jigsaw puzzle parts of th column scare me.

Answer
Hi Allen:

It sounds like the ignition lock cylinder has finally gone bad.  We have recently uploaded some videos on our website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the parts you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the videos are for a newer Chevrolet truck, the column is very similar to yours.

I hope these videos help you.  If not, please contact me again for more information.
Lastly, if you need parts to repair this column simply email us on our "Contact Us / Order Parts" page and we will get back in touch with you personally

Good luck

Doug
