Towing Issues: Towing Fee Kickback, tow company, tow trucks

Question
Omaha, NE

Is there anything restricting a business from contracting with a towing company and receiving part of the towing fee?  The towing company that towed our vehicle wouldn't negotiate any of the fees with us because they said the amount they were charging was in their contract with the business that had our car towed.

Answer
No,  there is not...

But in most cases the tow company when they receive a call from say "Stevens auto repair" has a rate for them which usually is a bit different from the retail (what is charged to the public) rates which does provide a bit of a "discount" (or kickback) for the business to call the tow company...

Standard practice in any business, as it allows for everyone to be profitable... Towing is expensive and each shop can not buy and keep a tow truck in cause they get a call for a tow...

Now if you were paying for the tow and you had called the tow company to do the tow, you might of been able to work a better deal, but remember that tow trucks also have "FIXED COSTS" to do business... In these days of $4.00 or better fuel prices the costs are getting tighter to do business.
