Towing Issues: could muffler damage be from towing?, self loader, tow company

Question
I recently had my 93 Prelude towed by a company that did private impounds. It was a rear tow with a dolly for the front. When it was towed, the gas tank was punctured and when the towing company's supervisor inspected it he said it was something that the driver didn't do correctly that caused the damage, and they replaced the tank for me. When I picked the car up I noticed the muffler had some dents in it, and I've also notice a small puncture in the muffler itself. Do you know what the driver would have done wrong to puncture the gas tank and is it likely that the same mistake damaged my muffler?

Thanks!

Answer
Well since I was not there, do not know what kind of truck they were driving (using) it is really hard to say with any degree of knowledge but as a general rule, it sounds like they might of been using a self loader (where the driver can stay in the truck and hook up the vehicle) and they might of had it to high when they went under the vehicle...

BUT THEN there is also the fact that carrying the vehicle to low and turning  or going over speed bumps and or driveways can cause the unit so hit the vehicle being towed..

There are many things which can be the cause of this and I really can not say with any certain knowledge what really happened...

You can try to talk to the tow company again, but they might say that they did what they should of done and you cleared the repairs..
